A video titled “What happened to the chickens” quickly went viral on social media; the unusually amusing clip was captured by TikToker Brianna Antoinette and shows the moment when all her chickens freeze like statues.
Trying to gather her five hungry birds, Brianna is very confused by what she sees; the chickens completely immobile, as if time had stopped. They only return to normal after a few seconds, Brianna’s shout calling for her husband Nick makes the little animals ‘wake up’.
The video generated many comments and theories about what happened; “this is the best evidence I’ve ever seen of a glitch in the matrix,” wrote one internet user. “Here’s a chicken expert! They do this when the weather gets colder; it helps them conserve energy for when they have to cross the road,” joked another.
To the Newsweek magazine, Brianna explained that all the chickens do this instinctively as a form of protection whenever they spot a hawk circling in the sky, thus avoiding attention and escaping the predator.
